Articles About Entertainment

Entertaiment is anything that provides amusement, diversion or pleasure. This may be an agreeable occupation for the mind – doing a crossword, for example – or it may take the form of a performance of some kind. The word has developed a strong association with light-hearted amusement, although many entertainments have a more serious purpose. For example, the story of Scheherazade – from the Persian professional storytelling tradition – has been adapted into orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, made into films by directors such as Pasolini, and even into an innovative video game.

Bates and Ferri (2010) define entertainment as activity that is understood objectively, communicates with an audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form.
